Lot 235: ANTIQUITIES, Chancay vessels

A pair of fine Chancay vessels from Peru, c. 1100 – 1450 AD. The group consists of a 3-7/8” high canteen-form vessel decorated with stippled designs in quartered panels on each side, with unusual imagery painted on the neck. The intact suspension loops appear to retain textile string remnants. Along with an unusual 3-1/8” redware jar, decorated with linear designs and cream rim band. Museum deaccession.
