A rare Sinu effigy vessel from the Rio Magdalena region of Colombia, c. 1000 – 1500 AD. This striking jar is 7” in diameter and has its facial features executed in appliqué style. The chamber is highly burnished, with dark red painted designs indicating ceremonial regalia. Intact, with strong mineral encrustation. Museum deaccession. Value range: $400 - $600
