Description
A fine Mixtec-Aztec tripod bowl from Mexico, c. 1200 – 1500 AD. This fine orangeware example is 8-1/4” in diameter, and the tondo is incised with an elaborate star design, which shows the extensive usage, typical of a molcajete (grating dish). The three bulbous legs are hollow and contain rattles. Intact, with strong mineral deposits. Museum deaccession. Value range: $350 - $400
