Lot 258: ANTIQUITIES. A choice Etruscan Genucilia plate

A choice Etruscan Genucilia plate, c. 370 - 350 BC, with shallow bowl, wide rim folded downward and pedestal foot. Decoration consists of a central star device surrounded by a wave pattern, black band around the side of the rim and foot as well as a single narrow band on the underside of the bowl. H: 2 1/8” (5.4 cm); D: 5 ¾” (14.6 cm). Intact. Cf. Del Chiaro, The Genucilia Group: A Class of Etruscan Red-Figured Plates (Berkeley 1957) for the type. Ex Orange County private collection.
