Lot 259: ANTIQUITIES. A pair of ancient glass vessels

A pair of ancient glass vessels. The first is a late Roman aubergine vial, c. 4th - 5th Century, with tapered base terminating in the pontil, the mouth flared with central ridge, H: 3 3/8”. The second vessel is an Islamic colorless square-cut flask, 9th - 10th Century, the body rectangular with square cross section, the neck cylindrical with lightly flared mouth, H: 2 1/8” (5.4 cm). The purple vial is intact, the Islamic vessel also intact with light weathering. Ex Los Angeles private collection. Estimated value $175-$250
