Description
Baktrian Kingdom. Agathokles. Ca. 185-170 B.C. CU-NI unit (21 mm, 4.00 g, 12 h). Wreathed head of Dionysos right; thyrsos over shoulder / Panther with bell around neck standing right, touching vine with raised forepaw; monogram in exergue. Bopearachchi 6A; SNG ANS 239; HGC 14, 95. Red-brown patina with some green deposits on reverse. Excellent metal for this normally porous issue. Very fine.
