D N ARCAD-IVS P F AVG, diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Arcadius right / VICTORIA AVGGG, emperor standing facing, head left, in prow of galley steered by Victory, holding phoenix on globe and labarum, spurning captive with foot; Γ//TES. RIC 61c; LRBC 1855. Rare issue. Nice for these. Dark black-green patina. Very fine.

This type was struck for Arcadius and his co-augusti only as a single issue at Thessalonica. It's a homage or revival of the galley FEL TEMP type struck under the sons of Constantine the Great.
