Description
Syria, Seleucis and Pieria. Antiochia ad Orontem. Pseudo-autonomous issue. 2nd century A.D. Æ dichalkon (15 mm, 2.68 g, 1 h). Caesarean era 177 (A.D. 128/9). ANTIOXЄωN THC MHTPOΠOΛЄ, laureate and draped bust of Apollo left / Laurel branch; around, date (ЄTOYC ZOP); no control letter. McAlee 130d (rare). An exceptional example, much nicer than the specimen illustrated in McAlee. Dark green patina. Nearly extremely fine.
