Description
China. Emperor Wang Mang. A.D. 7-23. Clay mould for an AE 50 Zhu with three Da Quan Wu Shih still present. Within the channel are numerous characters, presumably control marks. Moulds such as these are mint issues (all Chinese coins were cast until the 20th century), but most encountered are just partial or perhaps one coin. An example as this is rare with the control marks.
