Description
Phoenicia, Tyre. 126 B.C.-A.D 65 AR shekel (24 mm, 13.40 g, 12 h). Civic year 159 (A.D. 33/4). Laureate bust of Melkart right / [TYPIOY IEPAΣ] KAI AΣYΛOY, eagle standing left on prow, palm on right wing; PNΘ (date) above club to left, KP and monogram to right, Phoenician "b" between legs. Rouvier 2107 var. (monogram); RPC I 4663; BMC 204 var. (monogram). Toned, some smoothed horn silver on obverse, sharp date. Nearly very fine.
