Phoenicia, Tyre. 126 B.C.-A.D 65 AR 1/2 shekel (21 mm, 6.37 g, 12 h). Civic year 159 (A.D. 33/4). Laureate bust of Melkart right / TYPIOY IEP[AΣ] KAI AΣ[YΛOY], eagle standing left on prow, palm on right wing; PNΘ (date) above club to left, KP and monogram to right, Phoenician "b" between legs. Rouvier -; RPC I 4693; BMC -. Porous, clear date. Nearly very fine.

The half shekels of the Crucifixion year are much rarer then the full shekels. This cataloger has seen two half shekels and perhaps 30 full shekels in his 25-year career.
