Description
Augustus. 27 B.C.-A.D. 14 AR denarius (18 mm, 3.77 g, 6 h). Lugdunum, 11-9 B.C. AVGVSTVS DIVI F, laureate head of Augustus left / IMP XII in exergue, bull butting right. RIC 187b (R4); BMC p. 81, note; BN -; Lyon 55, pl xv. 55/2a (same dies, 2 specimens cited); RSC 157. High relief portrait and complete legends with just a hint of scattered porosity. Very rare with the left facing portrait. Nice very fine.
