GAIUS, "Caligula". 37-41 AD. Æ Sestertius (34mm - 28.98 g). Rome mint. Struck 37-8 AD. C CAESAR AVG GERMANICVS P M TR POT, PIETAS in exergue, Pietas, veiled, seated left and holding patera in extended right hand, left elbow resting on small facing statue / DIVO-AVG, S-C across field, Gaius sacrificing before hexastyle temple; one attendant leading bull to altar, the other holding a patera. RIC I 36; BMCRE 41; BN 51. VF, attractive reddish-brown patina, nice surfaces.
