Description

Sicily, Syracuse. Hieron II. 275-215 B.C. Æ (27 mm, 18.04 g, 5 h). Ca. 230-218/5 B.C. Diademed head of Hieron II left / ΙΕΡΩΝΟΣ in exergue, horseman riding right, holding spear. CNS 195; BAR issue 61; HGC 2, 1548. Dark brown patina, a couple of tiny spots of bronze disease (should be treated). Very fine.
