Description
Thessaly, Pherai. 3rd century B.C. Æ trichalkon (21 mm, 8.09 g, 2 h). Head of the nymph Hypereia facing slightly left, wearing wreath of reeds; to left, fish swimming upward / ΦΕΡΑΙΩ[Ν], Ennodia, holding torche riding on horse galloping right; in upper left field, lion's head fountain spout left. Cf. SNG Copenhagen 457; Rogers 531, fig. 290; BCD Thessaly II 716. Comparable in quality to the BCD specimen. Brown and green patina. Good very fine.
