Description
Koinon of Cyprus. Augustus. 27 B.C.-A.D. 14 Æ (16 mm, 3.36 g, 12 h). ca. 21 B.C. A. Plautius, proconsul. IMP CAESAR DIVI F, bare head of Augustus right / [PLAVTI]VS PRO COS, conical cult xoanon of Aphrodite of Paphos within central distyle tower, between two torches; the entire structure set on low basis within a semicircular courtyard. Amandry 2a; RPC 3906. Excellent portrait of Augustus, and one of the finest examples known. Black patina. Good very fine.
