TABERISTAN. Umar ibn A’ala. (771-782 AD). Year 128. Silver Hemidrachm (2.00 gm; 24 mm). Obverse: Sasanian bust to the right, name “Umar” in Arabic in front of the face, Pahlavi phrase “NYWK”-per Pakzadian) on the 3rd quarter and Pahlavi phrase APD on the second quarter. Reverse; fire altar with attendants, mint TPURSTAN (Tabaristan) on the right, date: 128, The period coincides with reign of 2nd Abbasid Khalif; Al Manusr (754-775 AD). Choice FDC. Fully Lustrous. Lightly toned.
