Description
Sasanian Empire: Khusro II AR drachm, 591-628 AD, struck at Shoraz mint, Dated: 35. (4.01gm, 33mm) Obv: Bearded bust right wearing winged crown surmounted by star in crescent (Göbl designates as crown II); star-in-crescent symbols at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock outside double dotted border; Pahlavi "APD" in 2nd quadrant of outer margin (an expression that probably conveys that the coin, or possibly Khusro himself, is of excellent quality). Rev: Zoroastrian fire altar; on either side of altar, attendant facing.
