Description

Sogdiana-Semirechye. Turgesh Khagans (Uncertain ruler). Ca. 719-766. Cast Æ fen (24 mm, 4.70 g, 12'). Sogdian inscription bgy twrkys g'g'n pny ('Coin of the Majestic Turgesh Khagan') around square center hole / Tamgha shaped like runic letter am formed by raised border of square center hole and curved line. Kamyshev type II, 25. VF, brown patina.

Kamyshev's type II consists of slightly crude larger coins produced to local standards, often with slightly degraded calligraphy, casting sprues, etc.
