Description
Parthian Kingdom. Mithradates II. 121-91 B.C. AR drachm (22 mm, 4.11 g, 12 h). Rhagai, ca. 96/5-91 B.C. Diademed and draped bust of Mithradates II left, wearing tiara decorated with double border of dots containing pelleted crescents and star / Archer seated right on omphalos, holding bow. Sellwood 28.1; Shore 94-5. Choice extremely fine.
Sellwood's issue 28 is noted for being the first series of coins to depict the ruler wearing the Parthian tiara.
