ROMAN EMPIRE. ANASTASIUS I. 491-518 AD. AV Solidus (4.52 gm; 22 mm). Struck 498-518. Constantinople mint. Diademed and helmeted three-quarter facing bust, holding spear over shoulder and shield decorated with horseman / Victory standing left, holding long cross surmounted by christogram; * B/CONOB. DOC I 7a; SB 5. Minor graffiti on obverse and reverse field, otherwise well struck on a nice full broad flan. Perfectly centered. Choice AU with some luster.
