AURELIAN. 270-275 AD. Antoninianus (22mm - 4.28 g). Serdica mint. 1st emission, 271 AD. IMP C D AVRELIANVS AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / CONSERV-ATOR AVG, Asklepios standing facing, head turned left, leaning on serpent staff, globe or omphalos at feet right. RIC V -; BN pg. 389 (this coin?). Good VF, about 30% silvered with some brown and green patina. Unpublished variety.
This coin shares it's obverse die with two coins illustrated in the BN catalog, pl. 81 167 (ORIENS AVG) and 170 (VICTORIA AVG). On page 389 of the BN catalog, a coin is listed as "Coll. priv." but the description of the reverse doesn't mention the globe, but another example listed with SERD in the exergue is also recorded and illustrated on pl. 81 which shows the globe. Perhaps this the coin listed as "Coll. priv.".
