Description
A fine Chancay figural jar from Peru, c. 1100 – 1450 AD. It is 6-1/4" high and is extensively decorated. The facial features and protruding hands are appliqués instead of the more common molding, with paint used to indicate facial décor, jewelry and clothing. Both handles are intact and the entire vessel has strong mineral deposits. Ex Caravallo collection. Value range: $350 - $400
