Lot 453: ANTIQUITIES, Olmec Figure

An excellent Olmec figure from Chalchuapa, El Salvador, c. 1000 BC. This superb seated figure is 4-1/2" high and is portrayed with the arms held in a naturalistic position in front of the body. Her ears are pierced and light incising indicates a loin cloth. The overall posture clearly shows the Las Bocas style Olmec influence on this region. Cf.
