Description
A pair of Egyptian steatite scarabs. The first is a 2nd Intermediate type, c. 1630 - 1570 BC, very well carved with a ‘kheper’ below a gold sign, ‘nefer’ symbols to either side and directly above, sedge plants to upper left and right. 16 x 11mm. Minor chip on head. The second is a New Kingdom type, c. 1570 - 1075 BC, the body nicely rendered, on base ‘Amen-re’ read from either direction. 14 x 10. Intact. Both scarabs lack glaze.Ex Los Angeles private collection. Value range $250-$350
