Description
Governors of Tabaristen, Umar ibn al-'Ala, 1/2 dirham, (1.28gm, 25mm) (PYE 120) Crowned Sasanian-style bust right, APD in outer margin, breast ornament: 3 pellets. Umar's name in Arabic (???) on the right/ Fire altar with 2 attendants; star left and right of flames. Pahlavi date to left, mint name to right 'TPWRSTAN' (Tabaristan). Good Very Fine and Rare variety.
