Description
Tabaristan, Abbasid Governors. 'Umar b. al-'Ala. 771-780. AR hemidrachm (22 mm, 2.01 g, 3 h). Fifth series with name in Pahlavi and Arabic. PYE 125. Crowned Sasanian style bust right / Fire altar flanked by attendants; stars flanking flames; fleur-de-lys in place of normal three-pellets in outer margin. Malek 77; Album 57 (r). Choice extremely fine.
