Description
INDIA, Medieval (Southern Deccan). Western Gangas. As feudatories of the Kakatiyas, circa AD 900-1000. AV Gadyana (3.74 gm; 31 mm). A series of eight punches: central punch of caparisoned boar standing right with four additional punches around; in between outer punches, two sri punches, and two punches with Kannada legends / Incuse of obverse. Cf. B. Subrahmanyam, I S.S., Gold Coins of the Kakatiyas (Andhara Pradesh, 2001), 529. Choice EF. Rare.
