Description
SASANIAN KINGS. Shapur I (240-270 AD). Gold Dinar (7.41 gm; 22 mm). Ctesiphon or Hamadan mint. Obverse standard portrait turning right with standard merlon crown with earflap over the ear. Reverse; Fire altar with attendants, Faravahar symbol to the left of the flame, 2 dots between the right attendants and fire altar. Sunrise 740. Superb strike with full detail and text visible. Extremely rare.
