Description
Anglo-Saxon, Kings of Mercia. Offa. 757-796. AR penny (20 mm, 1.38 g, 6 h). Heavy series. Cantebury mint. Deimund, moneyer. m with bar above and pellets on either side | +OFFA | REX / +DEΓn | VND (N retrograde), legend divided into two lunettes divided by a single line of pellets, pellets around letters of legend. Chick 222c (this coin); Blunt 88; North 321; SCBC 908. Very rare. Toned with some light porosity, slight bend in flan, some flaking on edge. Good very fine.
