Maximianus. First reign, A.D. 286-305. Æ follis (28 mm, 8.46 g, 6 h). London, ca. A.D. 296-303. IMP C MAXIMIANVS P F AVG, laureate and cuirassed bust of Maximianus right / GENIO POPV-LI ROMANI, Genius standing facing, head left, holding patera and cornucopiae. RIC 6b; Cloke & Toone 2.01.007. Greenish-brown patina, a few small spots of porosity. Extremely fine.

Cloke & Toone combine RIC 6b and 17 into one catalogue number due to the presence of continuous variation in bust size; there are not really two distinct bust types as RIC would have it. This coin is a clear example of the the "refined" style of Cloke & Toone 2.01, and of a larger bust as RIC 17.
