Ostrogoths, Countermarked coinage. Early to mid 6th century Æ 42 nummi (28 mm, 10.93 g, 6 h). Mark of valuation (XLII) cut into obverse of a Rome mint as of Vespasian with eagle-on-globe reverse. RIC 322. COI -; Morrisson 25; MEC 1, 72. Rare. Green patina, Valuation marks well defined. Fine.
