India, Ashmaka janapada. Ca. 500-350 B.C. AR 1/2 karshapana (17 mm, 1.47 g). 4 punches: Elephant left, swastika symbol consisting of 4 taurines (twice), and Ashmaka tree symbol / Blank. NOT listed in Rajgor. Extremely rare and choice.

The Ashmaka janapada was located in northern Maharashtra, between the Godavari and Narmada rivers. This swastika symbol was not recorded by Rajgor (cf. Series 26).
