India, Mitra rulers of ancient Punjab. Bhanumitra. Ca. 1st Century B.C. Æ coin (19 mm, 4.21 g). Standing male figure (Mahakal?) holding a staff in one hand and the other holding a water pot; Kharoshthi legend Rano Bhanumitasa to left / Elephant with raised trunk advancing left; traces of Brahmi legend Rano Bhanumitasa above. Allan, BMCAI, pl. XLIII, no. 2. The bilingual coins of the Mitra rulers of Punjab are among the rarest of the indigenous monarchical coins of north India. Very rare.
