India, Post-Mauryan central India. Bhanumitra. Ca. 1st Century B.C. Æ coin (17 mm, 3.19 g). Human figure (Mahakal?) holding spear in left hand and kamandalu in right; Brahmi legend Rano Bhanumitasa around / Blank. Unpublished (cf. Pieper 414 with tree-in-railing). This type with human figure is not recorded. Pieper listed one specimen with a tree-in-railing. Extremely rare.

Bhanumitra was a post-Mauryan ruler of Vidarbha, who emerged between the collapse of Mauryan power in the Deccan and the rise of the Satavahana empire. His coins are all very rare.
