India, Gupta empire. Chandragupta II. ruled Ca. A.D. 375-414. AR drachm (15 mm, 2.04 g). King's head right in Kshatrapa style; Brahmi date 90 to left / Garuda standing facing, with wings spread; Brahmi legend around: Parama bhagavata Maharajadhiraja Sri Chandragupta Vikramaditya. Pieper 867; MACW 4821. Dated Gupta coins are very rare. Our specimen has a clear date - Gupta Era 90 (409 AD) - behind the king's head. Very rare.
