India, Buddhist Shahi dynasty of Ohind. Spalapati Deva. Ca. A.D. 750-900. AR jital (18 mm, 4.25 g). Horseman advancing right, with blundered Brahmi legend Shahi Deva to right / Bull seated left with trident on hump; Nagari legend Sri Spalapati Deva above. Tye 2.1. Rare and choice.

This heavy early type (c. 4.2 g) was issued by the Buddhist Shahi kings of Ohind. The weight was then reduced to 3.4 g by the Hindu Shahis of Kabul.
