Description
TABERISTAN. Daadborzmehr; (722-731 AD). Year 86. Silver Hemidrachm (2.06 gm; 23 mm). Obverse; Sasanian bust to the right, name in Pahlavi in front of face, phrase APD in Pahlavi in the second quarter and a dot at 9 oclock. Reverse: fire altar with attendants, mint “TPURSTAN (Tabaristan)” on the right, date: 86 with a dot on the 6 oclock star typical of the reign. The period coincides with reign of 10th Umayyad Khalif; Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik (724-743 AD). Choice FDC. Fully Lustrous. Lightly toned.
