Description
ARAB-SASANIAN. Abdullah ibn Zubayr. Æ Unit (3.00 gm; 25 mm). Obverse: Sasanian bust, with name “Abdallah al-amir waroyshinkan” meaning “Abdallah Amir Al mo’menin”, reverse; mint; “gorz” (possibly Gorzawan). Aubdallah ibn Zubayr (Zubair) whose aunt was Aisha, the wife of Prophet Mohammad, rebelled against the Umayyad ruler after the martyrdom of the 3rd Shia Imam Hossein in Kaballa. He was eventually defeated and executed by Hajaj ibn Yusuf. well struck on a nice broad medallic flan. Original brown-reddish and green patina. Choice Good VF. Extremely rare.
