Macrinus. A.D. 217-218. AR denarius (3.41 g, 20.5 mm). Rome mint, struck A.D. 218. IMP C M OPEL SEV MACRINVS AVG, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / IOVI CONSERVATORI, Jupiter standing left, holding thunderbolt and scepter. RIC 73, RSC 33b (Antioch). Toned gVF. Scarce bust type Curtis Clay, in his article “The Roman Coinage of Macrinus and Diadumenian” (NZ 1979) reattributes this issue from Antioch to Rome.
