Description
Sasanian Kingdom. Ardashir I. A.D. 223/4-240. AR hemidrachm (19 mm, 2.17 g, 2 h). Mint B ("Hamadan"), Phase 3, circa 233/4-238/9. Diademed bust of Ardashir I right, wearing close-fitting headdress with earflaps and with korymbos / Fire altar with diadems; no attendants. SNS type IIIa(4a)/3b(2b), pl. 14, 210; Göbl type III/1/2; Saeedi 64; Sunrise 704. Rare. Well struck on a full flan and lightly toned. Nearly extremely fine.
