Spain, Castile and Leon. Ferdinand and Isabella. 1474-1504. AV double excellente (27 mm, 6.99 g, 4 h). Sevilla. Confronted crowned busts of Ferdinand, on left, and Isabella, on right; above, cross with pellet in each angle; between, S surrounded by pellets / Eagle with spread wings bearing crowned arms. ME 2937; Frieberg 129. A well struck example of the type used to finance Columbus' voyage of exploration. Extremely fine.
