Portugal. ND (1834). AR 870 reis (39 mm, 26.91 g). Crowned arms of Portugal countermarked on an 1815 Mexican 8 reales of Ferdinand VII, KM 111. KM 440.15. Coin fine, countermark very fine.

In 1834, the Portuguese government ordered that all Spanish Colonial 8 Reales in circulation be counterstamped with the crowned arms of Portugal, to indicate a revaluation to 870 Reis.
