Description

AURELIAN. 270-275 AD. Antoninianus (23mm - 4.10 g). Cyzicus mint. 2nd Emission, early 271 AD. IMP AVRELIANVS AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust left; two pellets below bust / IOVI STATORI, Jupiter standing facing, head turned left, holding scepter in right hand, thunderbolt in left. RIC V 333; MIR 47, 306e = BN pg. 414, pl. 85, 253 (same dies). Good VF/VF, green patina, some smoothing in fields. Very rare bust type, only the one specimen cited in the BN catalog.
