Description
A very nice Greek Gnathian-Ware bottle, South Italy, 4th Century BC, the slender ovoid body decorated with a net pattern in white, a wave device below and bands around the shoulder. The neck is decorated with vertical rays; a black band around the base of the elegantly turned foot. H: 6 ¾” (17.1 cm). Repaired at shoulder, some wear to slip decoration. A very attractive vessel used for dispensing oil. Ex Orange County private collection. Value range $600 - $700.
