Description
A beautiful Colima gadrooned squash vessel from West Mexico, c. 300 BC – 300 AD. This lovely Comala type is 14” in diameter, 9” high and is supported on a trio of parrot legs. The rich red slip is highly burnished and shows good mineral deposits. A great example with just minor restoration. Cf. “Townsend “Ancient West Mexico”, page 213, for similar example. Ex Arnold collection. Value range: $3500 - $4500
