Description
An excellent Chimu double-chambered vessel from Peru, c. 1100 – 1450 AD. This fine figural example is 8” long, 7” high and portrays a bat deity. Both chambers are covered with the molded designs characteristic of the type. Cf. Schjellerup “Chimu Pottery”, page 36, for similar from the National Museum of Denmark. Museum deaccession. Value range: $450 - $600.
