India, Maukhari dynasty of Kanauj. Isanavarman. Ca. A.D. 535-553. AR drachm (15 mm, 2.14 g). King's head left, wearing a crescent-topped crown / Fan-tailed Garuda with head right; Brahmi legend Vijitavanir-avanapati sri sanavama divam jayati around. Pieper 924. All Maukhari coins are rare. Our specimen has Garuda’s head turned right, instead of the usual left. Extremely rare.
