Description

Qajar Persia, Fath Ali Shah (1797-1834 AD). Æ Follis (14.48 gm; 25 mm). Obverse, Reclining Lion to the right, reverse: Fulus -e Iran, Zarb-e Tabriz (Fulus of Iran minted in Tabriz), date: 1230 AH, the date corresponds to the interm period between the first and second Russo-Persian wars. The first Russo-Persian war ended in 1228 AH and Golestan Treaty seceding Georgia and greater portion of Azerbaijan from Persia. Tabriz was the traditional seat of crown prince Abbas Mirza who was the capable commander of Persian forces. Nice brown reddish patina. Choice VF. Very Rare.
