SASANIAN KINGS, Yazdgard I, AD 399-420. AR drachm (4.10 gm; 30 mm). AW (Hormizd-Ardashir) mint. Bust right on floral ornament, wearing mural crown with frontal crescent above pellet and korymbos. Rev. Fire altar with ribbons; flanked by two attendants; crescent-above-pellets flanking flames, " 'w " to outer right, blundered "l'sty" on altar shaft. SNS type Ib1/1a (mint signature read as AWH); Göbl I/1; cf. Mochiri 981 (mint signature read as AI); cf. Paruck 302 (mint signature read as AI); Saeedi -. Choice Superb EF. Lustrous. Lightly toned.
